Welcome

A historic inn, thoughtfully preserved — and warmly welcoming.

Built in 1897, the Iron Gate Inn has watched Cedar City grow from a frontier settlement into a vibrant college town. We've spent years restoring its character — the original millwork, the generous front porch, the sense of arriving somewhere that truly matters — while ensuring every guest enjoys modern comfort, privacy, and convenience.

Whether you're visiting Southern Utah University, exploring Red Cliffs Desert Reserve, or simply passing through the beautiful Dixie region, we invite you to stay somewhere with soul.

Our Story

127 years of Cedar City history — and still welcoming guests.

The 1897 Iron Gate Inn was built when Cedar City was a growing mining and farming community in southern Utah. Over the decades, it served as a boarding house, a family home, and eventually — through the care of its current owners — a bed & breakfast that honors its past while embracing the present.

Every restoration decision has been guided by one question: Does this preserve what made this building special? The answer has kept the original hardwood floors, the ornate ceiling medallions, the front porch that greets you like a friend, and the sense that you've arrived somewhere with memory and meaning.

We're not a chain. We're not a corporate property. We're a historic home, thoughtfully maintained, where the people who stay with us are treated like guests — not transactions.
